Civic Participation

Our civic participation goal is to engage new Americans in ongoing community organizing efforts to help promote integration into the broader community and to become active citizens.

We aim to identify the most critical issues affecting the community on issues such as quality education, access to affordable health care, access to affordable housing, economic equity, immigration and youth leadership. We encourage and support in participation in the democratic process and to develop public policies that are more responsive to the community needs.

Through our volunteer services and in partnership with other organizations we assist eligible legal permanent residents on their path to citizenship, a crucial element of immigrant integration. NADA assists applicants

in preparing for the naturalization process. We conduct outreach and training that provide accurate information about immigration laws and legal review by a volunteer attorney or accredited representative.

  • The general requirements for naturalization include:

  • a period of continuous residence and physical presence in the United States;

  • an ability to read, write, and speak English;

  • a knowledge and understanding of U.S. history and government;

  • good moral character.

To learn more about the Naturalization process, you may check the USCIS Guide to Naturalization or visit the USCIS website.
